I tried translating it with Bable fish and got: " Please return l' heart… with which it appartient" -- Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog, its too dark to read. It's untranslatable in English
 because it's a pun with expression "rendre l'âme" which means "dying". Thanks !
